[Enjin Archive] My mac shuts itself down D:
Started by [E] Justine Minette

So these few days when I'm playing Minecraft,my mac suddenly shuts down.

Is it because it's over heated?

And i use mac pro,and there are a lot of troubles with playing MC,like when i craft i have to hold down the control button. And stuff like that so is it apple's laptops aren't really made for playing games....?

Macbook Pro? All Mac users have to hold down Contrl unless you change your controls, and yes Mac's aren't meant for gaming, but something like Minecraft should be extremely easy for a Mac to run. I have a iMac and it runs MC no problem.

I'm assuming you have a Macbook Pro, if you have an older model such as a G5 then yes it's going to get pretty hot.
yeah im on the newest imac and minecraft runs completely fine on it. But my macbook pro sucks with it. i have used it to play minecraft like idk, once or twice.
Yea I use MacBook pro,and when i unplug it it just shuts down..I have to keep the plug in ...
Sounds like a battery issue to me.

Yeah, this happened to my ipod. I can still use it, if its plugged in. When it gets unplugged, it shuts down right away. Your batter may have gone bad. might want to get that checked.
Is it just when playing minecraft?

Hmm...having to hold down the control button shouldn't happen. I can't see any reason why it should? I've never had to.
Had the exact same issue a few years ago. Battery replacement fixed everything. Late 2007 Macbook, regular one.

Constant plugging and and unplugging made the battery reach near 1k cycles. Their advice was to leave it plugged in as much as possible to prolong battery life and occasionally let it drain to empty. Removing the dust around the heatsink and in the fans also made my macbook run 10-15 C cooler. It runs around 65-70 C (140-160 F) when playing MC.

Use the iStat widget or SMC fan control. You can monitor the temp and manually up the fan speed if necessary.
If you have a macbook Pro from the last 5 years or so, plugging in the battery at certain intervals shouldn't be necessary.

One of the really nice features in macbooks is that when the battery is full, they stop charging. This is why you may see your battery at 97% even when it's been plugged in for hours. It will hit 100%, then pop back down for 1 or 2% and then charge again.
Yeah mine is still hanging on after nearly 5 years. The batteries have likely changed since then. I've got the one form before they came out with the unibody macs.
