It is just because your colored name shows up more against the dull white names. You are not getting more attention BECAUSE you donated, but because what you RECEIVED for donating. It is just a plus in donating!

Donators have made an investment in their experience, so in general seeing a donator has a certain implication that this prson is going to contribute, be more helpful and is interested in being socially involved with others.. again "in general," means the assumtion is made, non-donators that are active

and involved are also more equal, the just have done more work to proove it without the benefit of the assumption
