In SSP i enjoyed going to the nether and end a lot for recources (I think netherbrick is quite pretty) and experience. In SMP, this all changed with an aspect called Player Vs. Player, commonly abbreviated as PVP. My parents are extremely strict and do not want me engaging in most video-game violence and they scold me often for going to the end and nether. I started to think- Shouldnt I have a right as a player on this server to be able to explore such areas without having to go through this?
So, over the past few months ive been very sneaky, and worked in the end and nether quite a bit, trying to be unnoticed. There was one time I convinced my parents to allow this, but then drama with a old faction revoked my privileges. I have tried to steer clear of PVP in areas such as much as possible, unless helping out a friend of my faction and I try to warp away. Sadly the results arent always in my favor. Tonight was an example- I was trying to help solve the mystery of a recent missing dragon egg glitch. While searching the surrounding area of the altar I was ambushed, I tried to warp away, but the fire and sharpness sword they used lagged me so much I couldnt type. I got a little angry after that, and thought it was time to bring my idea to life.
So here's a question for you: Should players be allowed to be protected from PVP with proper consent?
I think one solution would be to create a rank that excludes members from all player-inflicted damage. That way they could not be afraid of pvp zones. Of course, if created this rank will not be for everybody. It will be strictly selective and while giving players in it advantages in the End and Netherworld, they should have some rules. They will be in permanent PVP off, and will require an appeal of sorts to be placed in and out of the rank. They cannot engage in pvp, and will not be allowed in PVP events like drop-run.
I would like to know what the community thinks of an addition as such.
EDIT: I actually have this more directed twords activity in the end- the end is quite small, and many people go for the Enderdragons. The nether is so large I rarely see anyone there. Another solution may be to have a larger end, or maybe two or three ends.
