Hey everyone,

This post is to announce that Eximius Gaming(and so forth Minetown) is making the move to Discord! Quite a few of the Eximius servers are now using discord as a primary means of communication for both voice and text chat.

What is Discord, you ask? To quote their own website, “All-in-one voice and text chat for gamers that’s free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone. Stop paying for TeamSpeak servers and hassling with Skype. Simplify your life.”

Here, you can either create an account and use their web version, or you can download their desktop app and use that. The main difference between the two is the the web app does not have push to talk unless you are focused on the Discord webpage. Along with those, there is also both an iOS and Android app, which has almost all the features that the web versions do.

So, you're probably wondering what it looks like, so here you go! It currently has two themes, both shown below:





To explain what the different things are, Discord uses colors to denote ranks, rather than tags like TeamSpeak. That said, some ranks will be viewable from the sidebar, as seen above. Along with that, both the text and voice channels come with the ability to edit permissions, such as:



These permissions allow server owners to restrict who enters/leaves a channel, who can talk and who can't, who can send alerts, and many more things. Along with all of this, apart from the current channels shown(which are drop in/drop out at the click of a button), Discord allows you to create servers of your own by simply clicking the "+" on the left bar. You can invite who you want, create permissions/channels/groups/etc yourself and pretty much do whatever you want.

For those with weaker computers worried about CPU usage, check this; The downloaded app uses less resources than Skype, and even TeamSpeak - - and better yet, combines both into one!
