Server is down, your firewall is blocking, or you forgot to update/Server still in 1.2.3 and you updated.

It isn't because he updated. If he did, he would have gotten "server outdated", or something similar to that.

UPDATE! We are at 1.2.4 now.

Yea make sure you typed the ip in right and make sure you have good connection and the memory problem i also have it just means your minecraft crashed, but dont worry all those errors are commonl :] Hope this helps
