Hello,

Since I see a lot of topics and questions involving this matter I decided to make a central post to explain a few things.

The reason you probably cant connect to the main Minetown server is because you updated your client to version 1.2+. The thing is our server didnt yet and since our server is running a lot of custom plugins we will update to 1.2+ in a few weeks from now when all plugins are updated.

There two options you have at this point in order to play minecraft on Minetown, these are:

• 
  
• Play on the temp Minetown server located at: mc.minetown.net:1337 (its our temp 1.2 server you should be able to access and play on till our main server is updated) and enjoy some 1.2 action allready.
  
• Downgrade your client back to version 1.1 so you can play on the main Minetown server again, below are the steps to do so.

Minecraft on Windows

1. 
   
2. Download the clean Minecraft 1.1 jar file by clicking above.
   
3. Copy the downloaded jar file.
   
4. Type %appdata% into the start menu > run window
   
5. Open .minecraft folder.
   
6. Open the bin folder.
   
7. Delete the current Minecraft.jar file.
   
8. Paste the Minecraft 1.1 jar file in the same folder.
   
9. Done.

Minecraft on a Mac

1. 
   
2. Download the clean Minecraft 1.1 jar file using the link above.
   
3. Copy the downloaded jar file.
   
4. Open the Finder.
   
5. Press ⌘-G and type in "~/Library/Application Support/" and hit Enter.
   
6. Open the minecraft folder.
   
7. Open the bin folder.
   
8. Delete the current Minecraft.jar file.
   
9. Paste the Minecraft 1.1 jar file in the same folder.
   
10. Done.
    

Now if you start minecraft again it will highly probably asks you if you want to upgrade again, this time please press Not Now, then proceed to connect to the MT server in the normal way.
