[Enjin Archive] DO NOT /hat SPAWNERS!
Started by [E] iSoccerplayer

ATTENTION!!!! Due to the way /hat works, and how the Spawner changing plugin is written, if you make a spawner with a Spawner egg, and iron bars, then decide to ./hat it (Donator perk), it will change into a pig spawner.

SO, DO NOT use a Spawner as a hat, unless you want it to turn into a Pig Spawner.

(Refunds will not be given)
now if I /hat one of my pig spawners will it produce pigs wherever I go. Now that is the hat I want. Creeper had would be cooler though.
lol...spontanious combustion? <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>
Does a pig spawner /hat actually spawn pigs? I've always thought it was purely for the looks and didn't do anything (like a torch or glowstone /hat that doesn't give off light). Can anyone confirm this?
All /hats are purely for looks. There used to be a plugin that made light-emitting hats actually emit light while worn, but that was causing chunk corruption, so it was removed (Fooling the server into thinking there are phantom light sources never ends well...). Of other interesting note, using a biome-tinted item (leaves) as a hat will cause whatever you have in your hand to be biome-tinted (leading to the "green" diamonds that people had a week ago). The spawner issue in particular is caused by the /hat command stripping all enchantments off of the item, and the spawner plugin tracks spawner type by putting an enchantment on the spawner, so beware using any blocks that are managed by plugins which might contain enchantments as hats.
Ye, it's quite annoying the hats don't give off light anymore!! They were very useful for exploring caves and for taking a stroll at night <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object> I guess it's good though if they were causing errors!!
Not ALL hats are just for looks. I never leave home without my makeshift scuba helmet!
True, but you don't need /hat to put a pumpkin on your head! <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>

So that's what happened to my torch on my back. Dammit, lol. No more cave exploring without 30 million stacks torches, haha. Also, very interesting facts about the green diamonds, I didn't even hear that happening.

Also, couldn't you go into the program and disable the /hat on the spawners and other blocks that would cause issues in the server? Just thinking that it is possible to do that, and would save so much time in the long run (so you wouldn't need to do so much maintenance for spawner issues).
It's certainly possible to put in the appropriate checks to prevent that kind of thing, It's just a trade off between the time it takes to make a post and warn people and just not do refunds, versus patching the plugin now, and every time it updates in the future, versus spending that time elsewhere, such as developing plugins which will add new things to the server and affect a much larger group of people.
