I made cooked pork machine using sticky pistons and ladders which did not work as shown on the video from which it was based. I was informed that the video must be very old since ladders no longer stopped the burning pigs from falling into the water (and thus not dying as cooked pork).

Does the statement in MC 1.2 "Ladders regained their collision box" mean that this type of setup will work again?

Use a sign instead

I was thinking about setting up a cooker like that, however in my test setup did not work. Also I think a setup like that needs to have the pigs drop a fair distance since they fall through the sings. Maybe I did something wrong but when I tried a test setup with lava and signs I never got cooked pork under the lava.

The way I had it the old cooker was a sticky piston would push a block of grass under the and when it retracted the pigs would land on burring netherrack. Maybe I will try the same setup with signs instead of ladders.

I was thinking of trying to build a cooker like the one at /warp pork (which is like your pic) but needed to do some more research.
