[Enjin Archive] Mobs spawning in lit areas.
Started by [E] Gurgash

I am having mobs spawn in lit up areas, that i know mobs should not be spawning at, they are also just spawning right in front of me also...If this intentional? (really hope not)

Becuase The reason for having towns and lit up areas to is be protected from such things.

Just thouht I would post this becuase I didnt see anything about it, and i know a few memebrs are also having this issue.
With the fact that there was absolutely no lag today, mobs have been spawning like crazy.

I've TP'ed to many users who were saying they were having issues with this in well-lit areas, only to find that their lighting was spotty and not enough.

Try spamming the area with as many torches as possible or setting up lots of glowstone, it sorted out all the other players who were having issues.

Hope this helps xx
In a dark forest today, i see like one or two zombies and like 5 zillion passives lol. XD
Torches need to be spaced 4 blocks in between, for the safety net. Same with glowstone. It seems excessive, but I've read on minecraft forums (not minetown ones) that you need to do this spacing to prevent spawning on smp servers.
yea, i just wish the glowstone reached its light just atleast 1 more square...Btw Duns, have you seen my town recently <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>...
Keep in mind that light is not calculated on a diagonal, only cardinal directions. A torch should protect 6 blocks in the N/S/E/W directions, but that is only 3 blocks in the diagonal direction away from the torch.

There are no modifications to mob spawning behavior on the server, unless you count the mob-spawn = deny flag that can be set on regions (which prevents mob spawning within the region, but not mob spawning just outside the region and walking into it). They spawn in the exact same conditions as in single player. I know I myself have gotten quite used to the laggy version of monsters and am often caught off guard when I play on my private server. I for one am happy that the mobs are able to do their job again, and actually make this a 'survival' server.
i hugged 3 creepers today...lol
Yup Darth, I took that into account which is why I said 4. They said you could do it with spacing of 5, but that if you space at 6 that mobs could spawn on the diagonal. 4 is better to keep it safe.
I'm wonder if monster farming without spawners is viable now. I guess I have some modifications to make to the large pagoda.
