[Enjin Archive] Torch melting radius?
Started by [E] Italy08

I can't seem to find an answer for the torches melting radius other then ice melts at 12 light. I know the torch puts out 14 light. Reason for the question is I am using ice as a method of conveyance. Its underground so I want to have the area well lit so mobs wont spawn in the area. So how far do I need to make sure the torches are from the ice? Figure a more experienced minetownian would know :)

Thanks
Or the minecraft wiki maybe?:

I am by no means an expert, but there seems to be a 1 light loss as distance increases by 1 block. The goldielocks zone would be >7 and <12 to maintain ice without mob spawn..

The tricky part would be the diagonals along elevation.. I think 3 blocks away, 3 blocks up (from the ice) should keep the light at 10-11. less than melting point but more than enough to keep the boogeymen away.
Thanks for the info guys. I have read the wiki and am in the process of testing it. Unfortunately I am going really slow as one leak will destroy a vast redstone network. I just have to be careful. Guess I would rather deal with mobs in the basement over a leak. Except those stupid creepers that would be devastating lol.
Our server has a plugin that disables environmental damage from a creeper's explosion, so your ice and redstone is good. Better safe than sorry :p
Awesome so better to take my chances with the mobs then to melt things. Thanks for the info.
