[Enjin Archive] New Project: City of Loria
Started by [E] MrJokee

Hey guys, I created this to document the progress of my big project, which is the creation of an underground city Loria. For those who didnt get it, its a LotR pun, Moria, Loria, get it? Anyway. I've just finished Phase 1, which was digging out the stairwell section of the entrance hall, and erecting scafoldings to prepare for phase 2, which will be mining out an area of 58x30x51 (L, D, W) which is roughly 88000 blocks.

Here are the pictures of Phase 1 Complete:

Oh, and it's all done with stone picks, because I'm hoarding my iron and I lost my diamond pickaxe.

Updates as they come.
It's looking great man, are you going to have pathes like that througout the city? Also, how do you keep it lit like that? My underground city, warp valleystorage, is completely dark except in a small area around torches. Keep up the great work, I like to go to cities and just look around sometimes, I'll check it out when it's ready <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>
I dont know about the paths, maybe in some areas, but its too early to say. As for the light. Torches. As I was digging down to the bottom, I left the torches up on the wall where I cant reach them now and they give a lot of light on the whole scene. Also, it could be the brightness settings I have on high, and the texture pack I was using while taking the screenshots

EDIT: I warped to your place, and I see what the problem is. You dug too deep and reached the bedrock. Bedrock is releasing, this sort of fume, smoke if you will, that makes it dark like hell. With my Texture Pack, it was pitch black with just light in my radius of sight, no torches could penetrate. So I guess the "Why is my place so lit up" is because I am really close to surface for that very reason.
Oy! Quick update on the progress. I finished the top part, after much grief because I was 2 blocks too close to surface and a ton of gravel kept falling down on my head, exposing me to the surface, and the lakebed, which as you can imagine caused a loooot of pain and suffering. But thats done and I started on the next layer, which will be considerably faster, thanks to a) diamond picks with enchants b) no falling gravel c) lots of caverns d) heiwashin who had been too kind and dug a big chunk out (legitly, mind you) and 3) all of the above.

Here are some pictures of the progress.

Just checking in, nice work here <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object> Also, I didn't know that the bedrock gave off those gases, thanks for the tip! I've found a mod to eliminate it thanks to Chunkyt, it is lovely but I do not plan on continuing the city anyway. I have a new one in progress. I may do something like you are under my actual city so I can appeal to dwarves everywhere <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>
Lookup up Moria v3 on the godcraft server, they basically built moria from scratch and its epic, if you ever run into a wall on this project!
I think I've seen that somewhere, however, Im not trying to make Moria, rather an underground, Moria-themed, city. And as for the wall, I just hit one. Its called Star Wars: The Old Republic. <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f600.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":d">:d</object> Also, My semester just started today so I wont have as much time as I'd love, to carry on with it, but I will keep digging when I can.
Oooh....I love Dwarven Style Holds.

Can I help?

Maybe do a grand entrance? (on surface)

I also do the Stone pickaxe trick <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>

Can't wait to see it finished
