Minecraft has released a new dev release and with it we have re-opened the Minetown Pre-release server. It will be running on mc.Mintown.net:1337 .To play on the pre-release server you will have to download the Pre-release client which can be done at http://mojang.com/2012/01/05/minecraft-snapshot-12w01a/

Just a note this is a vanilla server which means, NO Protections, Griefing is Allowed and everything you build WILL be deleted when the server is taken down.

Creative will NOT be given to non-staff members.

Will downloading this mess with our minecraft 1.0 jar?

Yeah, especially if you have mods (which most of us do). So what I would do is rename your 1.0.0 jar and put it aside, then put the developer snapshot jar in the bin folder.

You will want to backup your .Minecraft before running this. It is like going from 1.8 to 1.0.0 insted its 1.0.1 to Pre 1.1.0
