[Enjin Archive] server lag suggestions for devs
Started by [E] Georgenicale

I know you guys are hard at work trying to find problems relating back to major and servere lag spikes in game and server crashes

While i was admin on another server we had very similar problems and we could not figure out what was happening after upgrading servers multiple times the lag still was there.

wtf why was it still there and answer for us was simple in the end

we started with automatic scheduled restarts of the server every 1hr 30mins

http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/admn-simplerestart-v1-1-0-simple-server-automatic-rebooting-and-commands-1000.24652/

also limiting the map size was the most effective way to limit lag on the server most effective on servers that deal with over 100 players at a time and for servers using multiverse with 3+ worlds of unlimited size

http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/mech-worldborder-v1-5-0-feature-rich-world-size-limiting-plugin-1-0-1-r1.11309/

These seemed to eliminate most of the lagg

Just some suggestions

Peace.
I'm fairly sure the map has boundaries (Last I checked was last year(GET IT))
The world is fully generated and bordered. And restarts every 1h30 is a bit excessive (and probably useless) in my opinion. If you had to restart your server every 1h30, your problem was from somewhere else.

The things causing lag are the plugins recording a lot of events. Such as Hawkeye and NoCheat which constantly records multiple events per second. So the more player there is, the more events get recorded. Also we have a lot of plugins running. On top of that, Minecraft performances start to decrease from 60+ players.

We are working on a fairly complex concept to optimize the server to split the load and make the server multicore (because Minecraft is not multicore...) Once we have this running, our server will be completely unique and will support more players than any server. We also bought a new server that should be assembled and working in ~2 weeks that is custom built for Minecraft.

Thanks for the suggestion although.

I love you sawine.
No one defeats the almighty Sawine.
Let's steal NASA's computer and see if it works better. <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f600.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":d">:d</object>

Lawls... NASA uses avionics computers... I'm pretty sure they even continued using core memory until the late 90's
