[Enjin Archive] Melon Farm

Hey! I'm new here, pretty new to minecraft too. This is my first redstone creation. Its just basically a melon farm, exciting I know... Anyway feedback would be awesome =D

Apologies for the laggy video too =( My computer needs to be punted and replaced with a shiny new one.

You can also download it and play around with it here: http://adf.ly/4UdFh
Good

If you could make that a bit bigger then that is great!
Yeah I reckon I could stack them on top of eachother, I'll definately look into it =D thanks. I'll likely need a much better computer to record it though haha
I see potentional...

Can you make the timing of the pistons a bit closer to reduce the product loss, difficult but would be better
The only pieces I would lose would be a couple in between the pistons but I don't believe they were from a timing issue, I think its just when the pistons crush the melons they jump to the side a bit as well. I found if I changed the delay on the repeaters either way I would lose the stalks in between because the water would wash them away. It's worth playing around with, your welcome to download it and mess with it too. I'll get working on v2! Thanks for the feedback btw!
I got an idea

How about you put spider webs ether side so it catches the items and then the water gets them
You can't put spider webs between the stalk and the melon, Barney... so he can't "catch" the melon slices. It was a good idea, though. An easier way might be to pull the melons away using sticky pistons. I'm not sure if they crush when leaving the dirt, but if they don't you can then design a crushing mechanism one unit away form the stalks and increase the water way by another unit (away from the stalks as well) to decrease amount of loss.
I ment above the stalks so the slices fly up and get caught...

Probely won't work lol
It's all worth a shot! Like I said before, you are all welcome to play around with it as well if you like =P It is my first effort and there is definately room for improvement.
If you have webs above the melons, the problem now is the water issue. You'd have to then adjust it, which I'd think would result in some loss of stalks. I'll download it and try out the cob webs above and try my piston idea too, and see how they go.
