What would you guys think if there were a rule of building too close to others regions? I think minetown is really big enough to support this rule, and people can use the dynmap to find isolated areas. I would think of a rule to not build within 100 blocks or so, so you can expand when you need to without worrying. Please support me.
we had this rule but it became too hard to uphold
The only problem with this would be the massive work mods would need to put into implementing this.
Means we would need to delete or move the offending buildings which would cause problems in their own right. Deal with the petty arguments of who built theirs first and also the argument of ‘if the land isn’t region protected its allowed to be claimed’
If you think we’re just being lazy then please consider how much work we already do, an average day for me consists of accepting/rejecting guest apps, sorting out donators list (giving perks, making warps & vaults ect), deal with large amount of people whispering for help, keep an eye on any grief alerts, check griefer traps, petitions which consist of warps, protections, vaults, market lots and many other things. They can be very time consuming, this morning I spent over an hour before work just clearing the 20+ petitions. No way would I have the time to deal with people arguing about whose house should be moved from the others.
If you want a large area protected you need to state sizes or put an indication on how big you want it.

Simple solution : If your building like a town, just say to in the /pe and protect it about 20 blocks bigger than the town should be, that'll keep the view nice and clean, somewhat.
When I protect towns I always put it about 20-30 blocks bigger cause I know of this problem.
I know how frustrating it is, people have done exactly the same to me lol. Sadly I really would have the time to keep on top of this as well as all the other tasks I do x

The tough thing is, no matter how big an area you get protected (or even simply "claim" by presence), there's always a chance someone is going to build right outside it. In fact, the larger the buffer you give yourself, the more likely someone will be right beyond it.
Unless someone is actually harassing you or otherwise breaking the rules, it may be less resource consuming and more beneficial to work with your neighbor. Even if you don't particularly like their personality lol. Offer a treaty (I won't cause you trouble if you don't cause me any) and if they're close enough or you're both intending to expand, make sure to seal the gap between you so a real mule does wedge in. Though if you see they've already moved into the gap, annexing it without their permission would make a treaty difficult, among other things, so you'll need to do that crazy thing called communicating. :)

Or worst comes to worse, buy them out. Offer them a price they wouldnt refuse :)

This rule already exists, right? I quote:
"Do not build close to someone else's construction unless you have their approval."
I.E.: Don't build near cities and / or buildings. I had this issue a while ago.

Pred we used to have this rule but it was too much for mods to keep on top of.
