I'm pretty sure Bethesda used the same engine for Skyrim as they did for Oblivion, only with more detailed textures and more complicated animations.

You should be fine to play Skyrim on the same PC with which you played Oblivion, however you might have to tweak the graphics settings a bit, lowering the shadow-quality (not "shader", shadows) is always a big help.

It's really a function of your GPU, more so than the CPU or RAM. If you have over 1GB of dedicated video memory, I expect you'll have few, if any, problems.

*Most modern games are intended, or designed for systems with at least 1GB dedicated video memory, so keep that in mind.

The performance is a little heavier than Fallout 3, but not by much.
There was an issue with the sound crashing the game took me a while to figure that one out!

good hint.. When you have the golden claw ect if you look at the image of it it will give you the sequence of the doors Moth/Bear/wolf ect.

Im stuck playing Skyrim at the moment as my net has high voltage issues but ill be back on MT soon!
Compared to the PC version, it looks pretty amazing on a PS3, surprised how well it holds up as well.
