Spawners cannot be made, they can be bought from CS but those are only pig spawners, I need a spider spawner, and the server appears to be down for maint for about 10 mins.

I'm not sure about new (1.8,1.9) map generation, but old (1.6,1.7) generation had a tendency to "clump" dungeons. That is, there might be a handful of chunks with no dungeons, then a handful with two or more dungeons per chunk.
