no worries if you type /pe in-game it will list how to use it, the way you would use it for your house would be "/pe create i need my house protected plz" and when a mod or admin got time to do it they would simply go to your house and make the protection

You can hold a string in your hand and click the ground, then it will tell you if the area is protected or not. As long as you are at least 100 blocks away from others, there shouldn't be any problems.
